Arthropod Care and Maintenance

DESCRIPTION: The Insect Zoo and Butterfly Pavilion are looking for students interested in learning about how to care of live arthropods. Interns will gain experience with live arthropod care and rearing while working with staff in both the Insect Zoo and Butterfly Pavilion exhibits. The interns will learn about the educational programs of the Insect Zoo and Butterfly Pavilion and will assist staff with various projects relating to data tracking and compiling resource information on the arthropods.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced Undergraduates, Recent Graduates or Graduate Students. Experience or coursework in entomology, biology, husbandry or live arthropod care required.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Interns will learn how to care for live arthropods as well as presenting educational programing to the public.

TIMETABLE: Fall 2015

AWARD PACKAGE: $3,000 (30 hours/week for 12 weeks)
