A Capitol Experience

On February 20, 2013, NMAH interns and fellows received a tour of the US Capitol from the Director of Communications and Marketing at the Capitol Visitor Center. The interns and fellows experienced a unique and exciting opportunity for a personal and very detailed 2.5 hour tour of the Capitol, including areas not normally visited in public tours of the building. The offer of such a special tour was prompted by a NMAH Public Programming presentation of the Join the Student Sit-In program for Capitol staff, in which several NMAH interns and fellows participated.

The interns and fellows enjoyed the tour immensely, hanging on to every word from their captivating tour guide. Furthermore, they witnessed a true display of the importance and impact of providing a top notch visitor services experience, something that is heavily valued and practiced at the Smithsonian as well!
