Virtual Student Foreign Service Internship
This fall, the Smithsonian in partnership with the State Department is offering a unique virtual internship opportunity for college and graduate students through the Virtual Student Foreign Service. If you are interested in international relations and want to gain experience working with foreign audiences, then this internship might be perfect for you. The internship that the Smithsonian is offering through this program is one that allows the intern to inspire foreign audiences to get excited about learning using resources from the Smithsonian. Specifically, the intern could conduct research and document stories about what the Smithsonian is doing internationally.
If this sounds interesting to you, but you also want to apply for other posts in the program besides that of the Smithsonian, there are many other opportunities. You can find a list of them here. The positions that the State Department are offering range from technology oriented work (ex: working on web pages) to research oriented tasks (ex: conducting reports on issues like human rights or the environment). The application deadline is July 22. You can apply for up to 3 positions. For more information on the application process, visit this site.
