Youth Engagement through Science (YES) Program

Posted on January 8, 2014 by in The OFI Blog

The Youth Engagement though Science (YES!) program engages 25 rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors from the Washington DC area in exciting internships at the National Museum of Natural History. YES! is a 16 week program which offers a summer internship and a fall college preparatory program that aims to inspire the next generation of scientists. Our participants are placed in meaningful hands-on experience based projects and venture behind-the-scenes into the Museum’s vast research collections. Participants acquire valuable technological skills and enhance their written and verbal communication skills through guided workshops. In the fall, participants continue with their educational and career development by participating in college preparatory activities and are challenged to create an outreach project communicating their experience to their communities.
