NASM Intern Connects with Family History

Casey Tissue is at Duke University double majoring in computer science and visual and media studies. She spent the summer as a media and market intern at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) where she worked on website usability and development.

When she applied for the internship she knew that the plane her father flew for the marines in the ‘80s was housed at the Udvar-Hazy Center but she had never had the chance to see it or understand what it meant. During her internship, however, she was able to visit the plane with her father. She also had the opportunity to ride in simulators and says, “The plane that the simulator uses in the game is the same (kind of) plane that (my dad) flew and is in the museum. So it was really cool to be in a simulator that is a simulation of the plane he flew. It was just a really cool connection to what he did.”
