Christine Miranda is an intern with the National Museum of American History’s Program in Latino History and Culture. She recently wrote about NMAH’s items from Latina signer Selena on the NMAH blog. To those who aren’t familiar with Selena, she was an extremely influential Mexican singer-songwriter, who was murder in her prime. Tom Brokaw called her “the Mexican Madonna.” Selena was a fashion, music, and cultural icon. Christine wrote about the impact of Selena on her life, and what Selena means to the Latino community today. You can read more here.
