Invertebrate Inception
National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) fellow Dr. Ehsan Kayal is part of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology. Ehsan studies the genomes of invertebrates such as sponges and jellyfish. Scientists hope this type of research will provide new insights into the taxonomy and evolutionary history of invertebrates, and, by extension, all animals.
In the video above, Ehsan talks about his research and its purpose. The video was filmed during the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Robin Lerner’s visit to the Smithsonian. To learn more about her visit, as well as other international Smithsonian fellows, click here.
