The Numismatics Collection at NMAH

Former National Museum of American History Library (NMAH) intern Katrin Richter came to the Smithsonian for three weeks in January as part of the Whitworth University Smithsonian Internship Program where she worked in the Numismatics Divisional Library learning the ropes of Librarianship.

Katrin took on the task of reorganizing the Numismatics collection using SIRIS, the Smithsonian Libraries (SIL) online cataloging system. This undertaking, which started in July 2014, is reaching completion due to the efforts of Katrin and several other SIL interns and colleagues. At the same time Katrin was working on this project she was learning more about the day-to-day responsibilities of being a librarian-her personal choice for a future career.
