Stanley Awarded CIC Fellowship

Calandra Stanley, a doctoral student in the Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics (BEES) concentration at the University of Maryland has been awarded a Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC)/Smithsonian Institution Fellowships for 2016.

CIC/Smithsonian Fellowships are awarded to doctoral candidates from CIC member schools to support research in residence at Smithsonian Institution facilities. Fellows conduct research in association with members of the Smithsonian professional research staff, and use the resources of the Institution.

Currently, Stanley is investigating how seasonal interactions are contributing to the decline of a migratory songbird, the wood thrush. To make this possible, she will be using stable isotopes to quantify how carry-over effects from the non-breeding season are created and sustained through to the breeding season.
