They Were Fellows If I Say So

Posted on June 23, 2016 by in The OFI Blog

Jonathan Frederick Walz, Kathleen Merrill Campagnolo, and Anne Collins Goodyear are all alumni of the fellowship program with the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM).

Now, these three curators have teamed up to create a new exhibit opening at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art on Saturday June 25, 2016. This Is a Portrait If I Say So: Identity in American Art, 1912 to Today features nearly seventy-five works and is the first exhibition to address the breadth and significance of the phenomenon of non-mimetic portraits in American art. The show poses provocative questions about the very nature of likeness and personal identity.
