Delving Into Native American Culture

On Thursday 11/17/16 a group of interns and fellows from across the Smithsonian had an opportunity to go on a special tour of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). The tour lasted about an hour and the group was shown different exhibits, such as “Nation to Nation: Treaties Between the United States and American Indian Nations” and “Our Universes: Traditional Knowledge Shapes Our World.” Our tour guide, Ben Norman (Pamunkey), even treated us to a special performance on a native woodwind instrument, the pan flute.
