Karina Kletscher Cataloguing at the SIL
In the spring of 2019, Karina Kletscher filled out her Masters of Library Sciences (MLS) curriculum as an intern with the Smithsonian Institution Libraries (SIL).
Karina has just completed her first year of graduate studies in library sciences and utilized her internship as complementary field experience for her program.
Under the guidance of Daria Wingreen-Mason, Karina spent time to learn the full breadth and scope of interdisciplinary work present in the collection of the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage (CFCH).
During her time with SIL, she learned valuable information about the life cycle of of the collections process, as well as visited numerous libraries and galleries. During these visits, she witnessed numerous artist books at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG), The Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology, and participated in a bookbinding workshops Book Conservation Lab.
