Associate Internship with Office of Finance and Accounting (OF&A)
Background:
Behind every Smithsonian exhibition and discovery is a diverse team of people with a range of expertise. At the Office of Finance and Accounting (OF&A), we provide high-quality accounting and financial services to ensure the Smithsonian’s culture of accountability and fiscal responsibility continues far into the future.
The office’s major functions include writing and updating the Smithsonian’s financial policies and procedures; analyzing and reporting financial information for internal and external audiences; and performing general accounting functions such as cash management, bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable and vendor maintenance. Our Insurance Risk Management branch identifies and assesses risk to property, exhibitions, and collections and coordinates loss prevention and control throughout the Smithsonian.
How it Works:
OF&A’s internships are prearranged, structured learning experiences that are relevant both to the intern’s academic and professional goals and to the professional disciplines represented at OF&A. An ideal candidate for OF&A is a person who is detailed oriented, eager to learn, and enjoys working with numbers.
