Summer Paleobiology Education Internship
This internship is part of the Deep Time Initiative and offered through the Office of Education and Outreach at the National Museum of Natural History. This year the internship will focus on either invertebrate paleontology or vertebrate paleontology with an emphasis on dinosaurs. The Deep Time Initiative carries the important message—through the lens of paleontology—that the Earth’s distant past is connected to the present and shapes our future. The Office of Education and Outreach will engage our diverse audiences through programs and activities that meet their needs and interests while guiding them to understanding the changing world we live in. This internship has two major elements: interacting with the visitors in the exhibit space and designing a fossil-based activity to be facilitated by volunteers.
Learning Objectives: The intern will gain a better understanding of how different visitor groups learn and interact in a Museum setting, design a fossil-based activity for different learning styles and interests and focus on improving his/her science communication skills for a broad audience.
