Smithsonian Virtual Fellowships

Smithsonian Fellowships provide opportunities for professionals and scholars to conduct independent research and study with access to Smithsonian facilities, collections, and guidance from a Smithsonian adviser.

In the past, this has meant that would-be Fellows always needed to physically travel to the Smithsonian in order to conduct a Fellowship…but no longer.

Digital technology permits the Smithsonian to offer a growing number of Fellowships that can be conducted, with remote access to SI facilities and collections, and with guidance from a Smithsonian adviser, online.

In a growing number of cases, Smithsonian Fellowships can be conducted wherever you are.
